A family house in Madárhegy

The owners sought design advice before purchasing. The fifteen-year-old house suited their needs structurally, but its atmosphere called for a complete rethink.
Working within structural constraints, the refurbishment introduced a new kitchen, finishes and doors. Upstairs, combined rooms, new furniture, lighting and wallpapers transformed the private spaces.

Remodelling a family home
Renovation of a family home in Madárhegy
Budapest
Interior design, interior decoration
A young couple contacted me before buying their property and asked for my opinion on the family home they were considering. The original owner had built the house 15 years earlier, and everything was in very good condition. Its size and location also suited my clients. However, they wanted a different style and atmosphere, so after taking possession we completely remodelled the house. Nearly 400 m² of living and ancillary spaces across three levels offered plenty of scope for creativity. Structural constraints meant that the dimensions of the kitchen and living room on the middle level could not be changed, but the kitchen, finishes and internal doors were all replaced. On the upper level, in the private living quarters, we combined the bathrooms with smaller rooms, and every room received new furniture, lighting and wallpaper.
