A villa in the Buda hills

The interior of this family house near Normafa took shape from an early design stage. The layout balances shared and private spaces with everyday practicality.
A bespoke stair balustrade is a focal point in the subtly American-inspired interior. Finishes were selected from Mediterrán Kerámia, with a custom kitchen by ArtMirror.

Designing a premium family home on Széchenyi Hill
It is always a special opportunity for an interior designer to help shape a family home while it is still at the planning stage. In this project, we designed the interiors of a premium three-storey home on Széchenyi Hill, near Normafa, in an exceptionally beautiful natural setting.
Interior design at an early concept stage
The architectural outline plans had already been completed, but the interior design process gave us the opportunity to fine-tune the internal layout. At this stage, one of the most important aspects of planning a family home is finding the optimum floor plan, which shapes how comfortable the home will be for years to come.
The project placed particular emphasis on:
- careful selection of internal doors
- planning the complete lighting concept
- tailoring the kitchen and bathroom spaces
The extensive, high-quality range at Mediterrán Kerámia Kft. helped us select the finishes for the final interior. The bespoke kitchen furniture was made by ArtMirror Kft, whose work on our projects is always exceptionally precise.
Classic values in a modern form
The building’s massing is a contemporary interpretation of the villas characteristic of the neighbourhood, and the interior decoration and interior design are closely connected to it. The aim was to create a premium interior that is timeless and elegant, expressing classic values in a modern way.
The home, designed for a young couple, also has a subtle American-inspired atmosphere:
- white painted internal doors
- a spacious, bright kitchen
- large areas of glazing opening towards the garden
- an inviting reading corner
A distinctive bespoke feature is the specially designed balustrade beside the winding staircase, which became one of the space’s visual focal points.
Functional planning across three levels
In preparing the detailed construction drawings for the family home, we placed great emphasis on a carefully considered functional layout:
- Lower level: garage and wellness area
- Ground floor: kitchen, pantry, dressing and storage areas, spacious living and dining room with direct garden access, plus a guest bedroom, bathroom and separate guest toilet
- Upper floor: three bedrooms, dressing and storage areas, and two bathrooms
This arrangement makes everyday life comfortable while keeping spaces for entertaining and private rooms clearly separated.
The project is an excellent example of how interior decoration, interior design and considered family-home planning can come together to create a premium home. The detailed construction drawings for the family home ensure that the planned interior can be realised to the highest standard during construction.
